Hello all Climate Change Lead Schools!

    Hi everyone,

A huge warm welcome to all of the new North East Climate Change Lead Schools!

It's been a fantastic last few weeks - I've come away from the Lead Schools launch and our CPD course days feeling hugely energised and inspired...it may be the pilot year for the Lead Schools network, but the groundwork we lay now will ensure that we create a powerful legacy that lives on and spreads to all passionate about our planet.
Your enthusiasm, dedication and inspiration will make a wonderful difference to our young people - I'm absolutely thrilled to be working with all of you!

Footprint Friends is divided into 2 sections:  one for the youthful 'VIPs' (or those aged 11 to 18 years)*; and the 'Supporters' section for those young at heart!  As a teacher or Local Authority Lead Schools contact, please use this forum contained within the 'Supporters' section of Footprint Friends to communicate directly with one another.  This will be a very helpful tool to help us all keep in touch easily and promptly - we can share ideas, experiences and expertise across the whole Lead Schools network in a dynamic and creative way!

*If your students are under the age of 11 years, help them to communicate on the site through you!  You can still share their thoughts, ideas and enthusiasm via the 'Supporters' section...it would be great if you had time to do so!

There are several useful downloads in the 'Teacher Download's' portion of the 'Supporters' site here on Footprint Friends - I'd encourage you to take a look!  There is an information sheet to download all about Footprint Friends, another which sets out 2 easy lesson plans to get your students active on the 'VIP' part of the Footprint Friends site, and another which outlines Footprint Friends Guiding Principles and explains how the site is monitored.

Feel free to explore Footprint Friends and see what else you can find to spark your interest and creativity!  I'll close for now and encourage you and your VIP students to get signed up...

    More coming soon!

Look forward to hearing from you,

    Krista

    Hi Krista

It is fantastic that CCSP has partnered with Footprint Friends to provide its network forum. Here you will be able to talk to each other and share experiences and best practice.

You can visit the Climate Change Schools Project Gallery

If you are a teacher involved with the CCSP and you are interested in being able to upload your own images to the gallery please contact Krista. (you can click "contact" above Kristas post)

I am excited to be working with Krista and the project and look forward to reading your comments.

Re: Hello all Climate Change Lead Schools!

     Hi all,

I just wanted to say that I had a fantastic morning yesterday at Bydales School in Marske (Redcar & Cleveland) where loads of students were taking part in a special climate change/citizenship day...resulting in dozens of students painting their feet and signing into Footprint Friends as new VIPs!  Can't wait to see some of the photos on here so we can share the enthusiasm.

The students also decorated wonderfully pre-made birdhouses (they were previously made by other students) which will be hung around the school grounds, whilst others participated in designing awareness raising material to promote the use of different kinds of renewable enegy that school uses, too!

Many thanks to Seana & Jan for the invite, looking forward to the podcast and photos!  Big Smile

    With best wishes,

    Krista
